This article is the first in the series of the Hillcart Tales’ guide to different teas for the morning, afternoon, evening, and night. Below, we explore teas on a spectrum of flavour and caffeine content to compliment your breakfast. The next time you buy tea, think about it as a lifestyle choice rather than a beverage.
Sleep is the human version of pressing the restart button. Each morning offers a new perspective, an opportunity to aim higher, to feel happier, and live brighter. Not everyone has the liberty to have a leisurely, relaxed breakfast. Nevertheless, we all need to recalibrate in the mornings. Whether it is thirty minutes or a rushed two, morning tea has the potential to set the tone for the rest of the day.
Tea is a beverage that forms a crucial part of our lifestyles. Everybody’s morning persona is slightly, or drastically, different from who they are the rest of the day. Tea is the magic potion which awakens us each day. Depending on the kind of morning person you are, your magic potion of choice would also be different.
Green Tea for the Health Enthusiasts
There are a lot of different types of green tea. Green tea is known for its abundance of antioxidants and positive impact on the metabolic rate. A blueberry green tea would pair well with traditional whole wheat oats. Oats are a filling high-fiber breakfast that pairs well with green teas. You cannot have a healthier start to your day than the combination of oats and green tea. You could also try a tulsi infused blend of green tea that has a cooling effect on the body, essential for hot days.
High Caffeine Teas for the Slow Risers
In the peak of modernism our every minute is defined by the rat race, from which sleep is our only escape. For those that are constantly running in their waking hours, leaving the comforting arms of slumber can be a tall feat. A strong black tea is perhaps the only salvation. For such people breakfast is no more than a quick eggs on toast, but it is the tea that is crucial. A perfectly brewed Rwandan tea or Assam tea would provide the necessary kick to get up and go in the morning. Conquering the day is easy once you have your daily dose of black tea in the morning.
Tisanes and Loose Leaf Teas for the Fruit Lovers
If you’re in this category of people you probably start your day with a bowl of fruit along with an assortment of nuts and perhaps some yogurt. Seasonal fruits are a wonderful way to start the day and low caffeine teas, when paired correctly, enhance this breakfast experience tenfold. For caffeine free teas one can opt for tisanes such as orange flavoured or strawberry and citrus flavoured tisanes to compliment the fruitiness of the breakfast. For a low caffeine alternative, lightly brewed oolong teas would be an apt contrast to the fruit bowl. The key with this is to opt for teas that won’t damp down the freshness but amplify it. Jasmine tea is another loose leaf tea that is fragrant and does not have an overpowering flavour.
Each individual has a unique way of starting the day and different things work for different people. Figuring out what tea compliments your morning routine the best is an essential step in setting yourself up for a day of successes rather than failures. A lot can be solved with the right brew of tea in the morning but why stop there? Tea is one of the most versatile beverages and can be consumed round the clock. Different teas serve different purposes; the next article will bring you an array of afternoon teas you cannot refuse.
